• exploritory research- the inital collection and analsis of information used when very little is known about a subject; it forms a foundatiuon for later research
• focos group- a group of people whose apinions are studied to determan the opinions that can be expected from a llarger population
• descriptive research- the collection of information to determan the status of something such as in developing a costomer profile
• historical research- the study of the past to explane the present and predict the future
• secondary data- information that has already been collected by someone els
• primary data- info collected for the first time, is current, and relates directly to the collectors study
